We have to deal with the deadliest creature in the area. No, it's not rattlesnakes, coyotes, rabid animals, or even an angry fox. It is a minuscule, tiny creature that wants to kill you.

With summer here, that usually means lots of mosquitoes.  And now, the City of Amarillo’s Public Health department has received confirmation that the Zika virus is here.

The City of Amarillo is beginning a program called "Mission Mosquitoes" to help alert the public to the dangers of getting bitten by mosquitoes.

Several cases of West Nile has been reported around the panhandle.

The panhandle now counts more than a dozen cases of West Nile virus.

The Texas Department of State Health has confirmed cases of West Nile in our area.

With the weather getting warmer it's time to prepare for another round of West Nile.

With the return of rain to the High Plains many are concerned with a heightened risk of West Nile.

It takes a village to raise a child.  It takes a community to fight West Nile.

I'm allergic to mosquito and as such take many precautions to avoid getting bitten.  But you can only do so much, a few bites are inevitable.  This is a bit scary because the CDC has confirmed one of our neighbors has contracted West Nile.
