Like an overnight sensation, the City of Amarillo's plan to charge us a drainage fee on our utility bills suddenly doesn't seem like such a crazy idea.

We had a hard time getting rid of all that water last night.  Winds in excess of 75mph and rain totals ranged from almost an inch to over two inches in some areas.

There is stripped vegetation everywhere and more than just trees took a beating.  At this point no injuries have been reported.

The usual suspect intersections were flooded for sometime and made travel in the city problematic if not dangerous and foolhardy.

Unfortunately for some residents last night both their electricity and cable went out.  At my apartment we lost no function.  That wasn't the case for the more that 13,000 residents who lost at least electricity.  There were still nearly 4,500 people without power this morning.
