Standoff Between Amarillo Police And Suspect Ends Without Incident
A standoff this morning between the Amarillo SWAT team and a suspect has ended with the suspect still at large.
Amarillo Police were called to a home in the 5500 block of Southwest 34th on a domestic dispute. Arriving officers were not able to make contact with the man but did observe a gun in the house. The SWAT team and negotiators were called in.
At one point Amarillo Police had Hancock to Bell blocked off. Officers were able to escort four people from the home, including two children safely. The authorities eventually cleared the home and were unable to locate the suspect. It is believed the suspect may have escaped while the other occupants of the home were evacuated. A gun was recovered from the home.
The name of the suspect has not been released and the investigation is ongoing. All streets are now open and there is not an active manhunt ongoing for the suspect.
