Standoff At Amarillo Motel 6, Suspect Still At Large

Amarillo police descended on the Motel 6 on Paramount Boulevard yesterday attempting to nab a wanted felon.

27-year-old Cameron Cecil Cooks is wanted by Amarillo police for warrants related to Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Aggravated Robbery.  The warrants were issued in 2014.

Acting on information that placed Cooks at the Motel 6, the Amarillo police department contacted by telephone a female that was in the room.  She eventually came out.  After interviewing the woman they still could not determine for certain if Cooks was in the room or not.  As a precautionary measure the SWAT team and Bomb squads were called to the scene.

A robot was deployed into the room and it was determined around 3:30pm the room was empty and Cooks was no where in the area.

Cooks is described by police as being 5'9" tall and around 165 pounds.
