A glorious and sad day today with the final space shuttle launch.

No one can say when the next American launch vehicle will next take our astronauts to orbit.  That's because there isn't one.

I was lucky enough to take in this morning's launch, on television of course.  My elation at the launch quickly turned to disappointment with the current state of our space program.

Congress has even recently voted to further slash funding for NASA putting the successor to The Hubble in jeopardy.
