Social Media Business Exchange Turns To Robbery

Amarillo police are investigating an incident where a 23-year-old man said he was robbed while attempting to buy a game console from someone he met on Facebook.

The incident happened on October 31st around 11:30pm.  The victim agreed to meet at a motel in the 800 block of I-40 East.  The victim told police he met the suspect in the parking lot of the motel and was asked if he wanted to try it our to ensure the console worked.

The victim refused to enter the room and then a suspect pulled out a pistol and demanded money from the victim.  The victim told the suspect he left the money in the car.  At the car the victim handed over an undisclosed amount of cash.  While the assailant was counting the money the victim tool off running.

The victim told police he heard what he thought we gunshots fired in his direction but was not totally certain. He was not injured in the incident.

Police are on the lookout for a white male, 6’3″ with black hair.  He was last seen wearing Dickies pants and a black hoodie.
