Early Wednesday (May 13th) morning an Amarillo ambulance was fired at by an unknown person.

Medical personnel were loading a patient into an ambulance at around 5:20 this morning in the 1500 block of North Tyler when they heard nearly a dozen shots fired in their direction.

Amarillo Police and the Amarillo Fire Department were both sent to assist the AMS vehicle.  Both AMS and AFD reported they heard gun shots fired in their direction and could hear rounds passing over their heads.

The authorities believe the shots were coming from an alley in the 1400 block of Tyler and Polk.  No shell casings were recovered.

The incident is under investigation.
