It appears that the community can't even renovate a park and basketball court without idiot gangsters ending up shooting at each other. It's frightening to think that even at a celebration event for something the benefits the community, violence breaks out and a teen lies in the hospital while an armed gunman is on the loose.

A party to celebrate the resurfacing of a city basketball court ended in violence Thursday, after police said someone opened fire, shooting one person in the leg.

Police Sgt. J. Johnson said the 17-year-old man, who was not identified, was among those celebrating about 6 p.m. at Hamlet Park's basketball court in the 2800 block of Redwood Street when a fight erupted.

Johnson said the man told officers the fight involving about 30 young adults quickly moved to Redwood Street, and a light-skinned black man with long hair pulled out a pistol and started shooting.
