SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Some creatures being featured at a South Texas zoo don't have to be fed.

Crews have begun assembling an animal-inspired carousel as part of the San Antonio Zoo's 100th anniversary this year.

Spokeswoman Dawn Koehler (KAY'-ler) on Wednesday announced details of the $8 million Zootennial Plaza, which opens March 7 and will include the carousel and a restaurant.

Carousel riders can choose from more than 50 animal-looking reproductions ranging from a horned lizard to a hippo to a whooping crane.

The zoo has offered sponsorship opportunities for some of the individual carousel animals.
