Today Rick Perry announced what many of us already knew.  He had 'no viable path to victory' and he has bowed out of the GOP race to be the Republican nominee facing Obama in the next General Election.

We've got our Governor back.

"I have come to the conclusion that there is no viable path to victory for my candidacy in 2012," said Perry.  He read from a prepared statement before reporters.

Perry asked his supporters to get behind Newt Gingrich.  Perry described the former House speaker as "a conservative visionary who can transform our country."

Nevertheless, this chapter of American politics is over for now.  Perry has indicated he may run again, next time around.  And he hasn't decided if he will run again for governor at this time either.
