Randall County has purchased an 88-acre property that includes the Courts of Amarillo building.

The Courts of Amarillo building sits just off East Loop 335.  It includes 88-acres.  Randall County purchased the facility and land with an eye towards renovating the facility.

The sale was concluded on Tuesday.  County commissioners plan to use about half the building for emergency services.  The Texas Forestry Service has been solicited for interest in moving into the facility.  The other part of the building will be used for police and fire training, the 4-H stock show and other events suitable for the venue.

The property will also be used to store vehicles and equipment for the Randall County Road Department.  The county spent a little over $5 million for the property.
