Potter Country Commissioners have passed a proclamation designating July as "Watch Your Car Month" during their meeting on Monday.  47th District Attorney Randall Sims presented the request to the Court.

Texans lost close to a billion dollars in 2015 to vehicle burglaries.  Amarillo tends to be high on the list of stolen cars in communities between 100,000 and 250,000 residents.

All local law enforcement entities will take part in the drive and you are also advised to remember to not leave your car unlocked, secure belongings out of site or in the trunk, and as always never leave your car running unattended.
