Port Arthur Boy, 12, Calls 911 During Burglary

PORT ARTHUR, Texas (AP) — A 12-year-old Southeast Texas boy has been praised by police for his bravery when he reported burglars in his house and he hid in the closet.

Port Arthur police say the incident happened the afternoon of Aug. 20 when the child was home alone. Police on Monday didn't immediately update the investigation of two men facing burglary of a habitation charges.

Police received a 911 call from the boy reporting he heard a window being broken. A dispatcher tells the youth that help is on the way.

The boy hid in a bedroom closet and quietly kept talking to the dispatcher, who told him he was doing good, stay out of sight and remain on the phone.

Officers nabbed the two suspects shortly after they ran from the house.
