MILFORD, Texas (AP) — Hundreds of residents evacuated from a North Texas town after a Chevron pipeline explosion await returning home as the fire burns itself out.

The Ellis County Sheriff's Office on Friday reported no incidents overnight related to the liquefied petroleum gas pipeline fire near Milford, 40 miles south of Dallas.

Milford schools canceled classes Friday, a day after a drilling crew punctured the pipeline and fire broke out. Nobody was hurt.

Chevron requested a 1½-mile evacuation zone for Milford, which has about 700 residents. The American Red Cross set up an evacuation shelter in nearby Italy (IT'-lee), where about three dozen people stayed Thursday night.

Chevron, which apologized for the accident, continues to depressurize the West Texas LPG pipeline.

The company set up a claims telephone hotline for affected residents: 1-855-276-1272
