Two local petitions are on the verge of being pushed to a special election.The petitions were submitted to the city secretary in July and the signatures have been approved. The first petition is to eliminate the drainage fee that Amarillo water customers pay each month.  The second petition seeks to limit city government, basing its size proportional to population.Both petitions were submitted in January.

The city commission is holding a public meeting tonight at 5:30 at City Hall to discuss the issues.
