A standoff between police and a woman ended peacefully early this morning.

Police were called to a residence at 43rd and Gables Sunday evening around 11pm.  They were called in response to a report of a woman who allegedly made telephone threats against a man also threatened to shoot herself.

The man was not at the residence when the threat was made.  Amarillo SWAT was called in because the woman was believed to be armed.  After several hours on the scene and many attempts to communicate with the woman a police negotiator eventually talked the woman into surrendering without incident.  It was nearly 4:30am this morning before the woman agreed to come out.

She was taken into custody and then taken to the hospital for a medical evaluation.

No criminal charges have been filed and the investigation is ongoing.
