The Curry County Sheriff's office has been receiving complaints of a new telephone and internet scam.

The scam sees callers posing as Curry County Sheriff's Deputy's and they are telling potential victims they have missed a court date and must remit money via the internet to avoid being arrested for failure to appear.  The man claims if the money isn't immediately paid, deputies will be sent and the recipient of the call will be arrested.

The Curry County Sheriff's Office and other area law enforcement agencies will never solicit payment for fines over the phone.
