SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Phil Collins, who has spent years remembering the Alamo, is now giving the Alamo reason to remember Phil Collins.

The British musician visits San Antonio on Thursday to announce his donation of his collection of artifacts related to the 1836 Battle of the Alamo and the Texas Revolution.

Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson has said the 63-year-old singer-drummer wants to find a home that will care for his collection into the future. Patterson says some of the artifacts could be placed on display at the Alamo within a year.

The Texas General Land Office manages the downtown San Antonio shrine to Texas independence, and Patterson says Collins has the world’s largest private collection of Texas Revolution artifacts. Collins’ most prized item is a receipt signed by Alamo commander William Barret Travis.
