Everyone is well aware of the fact that Amarillo and surrounding counties are under a severe fire threat, therefore all fireworks displays have been canceled. Also, there are no sales or use of fireworks in the Amarillo area and the ban will be enforced strongly.

With that said, many places are offering up alternatives to the firework displays and having events that will still capture the eye and be safe for the Amarillo area due to the extended drought.

At John Stiff Memorial Park at 45th and Bell street, the Amarillo Globe News and Amarillo National Bank have announced that they will be having a Full Laser Show and Live Music to celebrate the 4th of July.

The Amarillo Symphony will perform many live numbers all choreographed to a laser show produced by a Dallas Company, Entertainment Technologies Group.

This will be the first Amarillo Globe News Fourth of July Celebration without a fireworks display since 1954. That's right, it's been over 60 years that we have had the amazing fireworks displays here in Amarillo to celebrate, but due to this years drought conditions, the city has found alternative entertainment that promises to be just as spectacular.

The party starts at 5 o'clock at the park, so grab a cooler and head to the 4th of July Celebration that may not have fireworks, but will have the jaw dropping awe factor that we expect from Independence Day in the Texas Panhandle.
