Monday Standoff With Amarillo Police Ends Peacefully

The Amarillo Police Department were involved in a standoff with an armed man on Monday.

It happened at 1300 South Harrison in the vicinity of Park Central Assisted Living Center and Park Place Towers.

According to police they were called to the scene after a resident told staff members that  her husband had a gun and was threatening to harm himself.  Staff members observed a gun in the man's lap and called police.

The standoff ended peacefully after about two hours.  The APD is treating the incident as a mental health issue.
