AMARILLO, Texas (AP) — Emergency personnel have located the burned remains of a single-engine plane that crashed in the Texas Panhandle, killing all three people on board.

Department of Public Safety troopers found the wreckage Monday about 2 miles east of Amarillo after heavy fog lifted.

Sr. Trooper Chris Ray says investigators are trying to determine if weather played a role. Forecasters say conditions were foggy when the Beechcraft disappeared off radar around 1:30 a.m. CST Monday. The wreckage was found nearly six hours later in a lakebed.

The pilot was in contact with air controllers in Albuquerque, N.M., during the flight from Lubbock and during attempts to land at Tradewind Airport in Amarillo and Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport.

Names of the victims weren’t immediately released. The plane is registered in Naples, Fla.
