HOUSTON (AP) — A suburban Dallas man convicted of using a baseball bat to kill a woman delivering donuts and breakfast tacos to his parents’ home has lost a federal court appeal of his death sentence, moving him a step closer to execution.
Anthony Doyle was 18 in 2001 when he was arrested for the slaying of 47-year-old Hyun Cho during a robbery.
Evidence showed he put her body in a trash can behind his parents’ home in Rowlett, took her car, cell phone and credit cards, visited friends and shared the food with them.
The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals late Wednesday rejected arguments his confession was involuntary, that he had deficient legal help at his trial and that his sentence was unconstitutional. He does not yet have an execution date.
