The Texas Department of Public Safety troopers stopped a vehicle along I-40 for a routine traffic stopped that turned into much more.

It happened Sunday around 7:30pm.  The 1999 Dodge Caravan was traveling eastbound on I-40.  The trooper pulled the van over for a traffic violation.

The trooper was given consent to search the vehicle and eventually found six pounds of meth stuffed into the spare tire in five bundles.  The meth was valued at over $200,000.

The driver, Jose Luis Cortez, 48 of Pacoima, California and Rosa Elana Arixmendi, 25, of Panorama, California were both arrested for possession of a controlled substance, a first degree felony.

Both were booked into Potter County Jail.
