Drinking and driving is a serious problem.  There is now a major push in Texas for mandatory sobriety checkpoints across the state.

Sobriety checkpoint's are set up to allow law enforcement to randomly check motorists for intoxication to determine if the motorist is too impaired to drive.  They are usually set up late at night or in the very early morning hours.

MADD is calling on the Texas state legislature to enact the checkpoints as well as requiring all first time DWI offenders to use an interlock device which will not allow them to start their vehicle if they have been drinking.
