Confusion and long lines may have made it difficult to vote during the presidential election yesterday, but that all pales in comparison to a Michigan man who died while voting, was resuscitated, then made sure his ballot was complete before being taken to the hospital. Talk about a dedicated voter!

According to reports, the elderly man, whose name wasn’t released, was filling out an absentee ballot in Southfield Township with his wife when he suddenly became unresponsive. Luckily, Ty Houston, a registered home care nurse, was on hand.

“His wife, who was helping him fill out the ballot, asked him a couple of questions but he didn’t respond. She screamed for help and I went over to see what I could do,” said Houston.

So, Houston applied CPR to the man, who had no heartbeat and wasn’t breathing. Within minutes, he came back to life, but seemed more concerned with his ballot than his near-death experience. “Did I vote?,” he asked.

Fortunately, he had. Once the man was told that he had completed his ballot, he was taken by EMS workers to William Beaumont Hospital. Kinda makes failing to vote seem silly, doesn’t it?
