Amarillo Police were summoned to the 1800 block of north Poplar just after midnight Monday morning on the report of a multiple stabbing.
When officers arrived they found a 27-year-old man with stab wounds to the shoulder and stomach. His injuries were not life threatening. A second victim, a 23-year-old had left for the hospital before police arrived.
The 27-year-old told police the assailant was a guest in his home during a cookout. The victim claimed the assailant appeared to be on narcotics during the episode.
Shortly after the first report, APD received a call on a man trying to remove an air conditioner from a residence at 1400 Buchanan. The man matched the description of the suspect in the stabbing but had fled before police arrived.
Later Monday morning the APD got reports of a man standing in the street at the 15th and Dumas area, yelling at cars. The man was identified as 26-year-old Gabriel Vega.
