Our area is truly blessed to have an institution of higher learning in our own backyard.  It is a wonderful stepping stone for young and old looking to improve themselves.  But it isn't free and next semester is going to hurt a bit more.

AC is facing a budget shortfall after the state legislature slashed funding by $6.6 million.  The difference is going to have to come from somewhere.  That somewhere is students.

Students that qualify will still be able to receive financial aid, scholarships and grants.

For students attending on their or their parent's dime however, tuition is going up $7 per credit hour.  For a typical student with a nine hour course load that would mean an extra $63 per semester.

But you really can't put a price on a college education, no matter how hard society tries to.
