The water levels at Lake Meredith keep dropping and with no end in sight for the drought, the National Park Service is considering revamping the lake.

While usage of the lake for boating has decreased, many areas have been opened up by the low water for ATVs and other off road vehicles.

The National Park Service is in the early planning stages to re-utilize the area for off road use.

The government sequester has affected lake management.  Only six rangers are available to cover nearly 45,000 acres.
