The government shutdown is affecting Lake Meredith.

Government services and facilities across the globe have been shutdown.  This includes the Lake Meredith National Recreation Area and the Alibates Flint Quarries National Monument near Fritch.  All upcoming events and programs are canceled until further notice.

In all, 36 employees are affected.  Businesses around the lake are also expecting the see a downturn in business with the closures.  All campgrounds, restrooms and roads are closed with the exception of Highway 1319 which cuts through the park.

The National Park Service estimates they are losing $450,000 a day while the government is shutdown.
