ISS In Danger; Astronauts Forced To Seek Refuge In Escape Capsule
The International Space Station crew has one option in an emergency. They had to use that option Tuesday.
Due to approaching space debris astronauts were force to the safety of their Soyuz escape capsule in the event of an emergency caused by debris striking the station.
Space debris is a huge problem with earthers constantly shooting stuff into orbit with little regard for how they will bring it back.
In most cases like this the debris is spotted in time to adjust the orbit of the station but in this instance it was spotted too late to move the station.
