Battlefield 3 is a very popular first person shooter video game.  It allows players to simulate combat in a variety of real world locations.  One has Iran so upset it has banned the game throughout the country.

An Iranian IT magazine has reported the government banning of the game which depicts a US armour and aircraft assault on Tehran.

Battlefield 3 is made by US video game company EA.  The game also features missions in Paris and New York.  The game is EA's top selling title and can be played as a solo campaign or as a group with up to 24 players.  The game was released October 25th and sold 5 million copies within a week.

EA has no resellers in Iran but pirated copies are readily available.  Iranian police have already arrested shop keepers ahead of announcing the ban.
