Officer Justin Scherlen was critically injured in an accident last month when a Jeep struck him head on in an early morning accident.

Although Officer Scherlen's injuries were substantial and included a stay in Intensive Care he was finally determined to be well enough to go home.  He was released from the hospital yesterday.

Scherlen still has a long road of recovery ahead.  He will continue to undergo physical and occupational therapy over the next several months.  His doctors say he has made remarkable progress in his recovery and are optimistic he will soon be on his own two feet.

The APD has said Sherlen will eventually return to his job enforcing laws and protecting the citizens of Amarillo from the criminal element.

The entire Sherlen family has asked the media to extend a thank you to the entire panhandle for their thoughts, prayers, and donations.
