The Canyon city square is getting an exciting new business this summer.

Canyon, the small city located south of Amarillo, was a dry town up until just last year. They served alcohol at one restaurant, Buffalo's Cafe, but otherwise, all beverages had to be purchased at least 10 minutes out of town.

City development is booming, especially since a law was passed that allows the sale of alcohol in city limits. Now, a really special restaurant is opening on the town square.

The Imperial Taproom will be opening this summer, according to their Facebook. It is located on 15th Street, which is on the west side of the square. Imperial will be between Palace Coffee and Johnston's Hardware.

The location is still under construction, but you can see the exterior if you drive through the square.

This new restaurant will be unique to Canyon. While the town has some great restaurants, the cuisine tends to be repetitive. Also, there are only two restaurants on the square right now: Sayakomarn's, which serves Thai food, and the Rockin' Zebra, a 50's-themed restaurant.

The Imperial will not only offer a contemporary update to the square, it will also be the only place in Canyon to serve craft beer.
