House Of Representatives Will Resume Work On SOPA Bill Re-Write In February

SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) has caused a storm of controversy and protest amongst social media, social news and consumer sites across the country. The complaint is that this bill basically boils down to internet censorship.

Anti-piracy laws have been in the forefront of most entertainment and music companies who state that stopping online piracy is crucial.

Internet companies oppose this new law vigorously stating that it would lead to censorship and that it would undermine innovation and free speach.

Representative Lamar Smith, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee has stated that the SOPA bill is necessary to protect American businesses from theft of intellectual property.

Congress has had multiple retreats which is putting this legislation on the back burner until February, but they say that they are ready to get a bi-partisan bill to the White House.
