Other teams starting today include Bushland, River Road and Highland Park along with many other across the state. None of the programs held spring drills so they can take the field today to start preparations for the new season.  Those teams that did conduct spring practices, will have to wait until next Monday to begin.

- The West Texas A&M football team reported to campus Sunday afternoon. The Buffs will hold team meetings today followed by the first practice tomorrow at 2 p.m. Practices are open to the fans.

- Texas Tech held its first practice session on Friday. The Red Raiders split time between individual drills and 11-on-11 action in the first of two days of helmet-only practices. The team transitioned to shoulder pads yesterday and will hold the first full-pad practice Tuesday afternoon.

- High school volleyball teams, which have already been practicing for a week, will start their 2018 seasons today and tomorrow.

Amarillo High begins the season under a new head coach for the first time in 31 years as they host Lubbock Trinity Christian tonight. It marks the first match under former Lady Sandie and Nebraska standout Kori Clements as head coach.

Randall is on the road at Borger this evening and River Road travels to Miami. The other local teams will get the season underway tomorrow.
