Football season is one of the best times of the year in the Texas Panhandle. On Thursday and Friday nights, people head out to the game in their team colors to cheer on their kids and classmates. Football season is the start of fall, when the weather gets cooler and the leaves start changing.

In the Texas Panhandle, small town-rivalries create an excitement among players, students, and fans alike. Girls look forward to wearing giant mums to homecoming and painting their faces with the numbers of boyfriends on the team. The cheerleaders motivate the crowds at pep rallies and keep them going, even during overtime.
