Heroin Seizure On I-40

A Sunday traffic stop on I-40 turned into an interdiction.

Around 4:45pm Sunday a DPS trooper pulled over a 2015 Dodge Charger for a traffic violation.  The Charger was traveling eastbound on I-40 and was near Conway in Carson County.

During the stop the trooper discovered nine bundles of heroin in a backpack stored in the vehicles trunk.

24-year old Jessie Beltran of Thermal, California was taken into custody for possession of a controlled substance, a first degree felony and was booked in the Carson County Jail.

The illegal contraband was allegedly being transported from Phoenix to Oklahoma City.
