Amarillo High and new head coach Chad Dunnam kick off the season at home against Frenship. Dunnam joined the Sandies after a successful stint at Dumas and brings a new offense to Amarillo High.  Frenship is trying to bounce back from an 0-10 season last year. Kickoff is at 7 p.m at Dick Bivins Stadium. Fans can also hear the game on Newstalk 940-KIXZ.

The other matchup has Canyon hosting Palo Duro.  Canyon head coach Blake Bryant starts his 19th season as head coach of the Eagles and is coming off a rare losing season as they finished 2-8, the same record as Palo Duro. The Dons are led by third year head coach Chris Fisher, who is hopeful PD will be improved with a large number of starters returning from that team. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. at Kimbrough Memorial Stadium.

All the other local teams will start the season on Friday.
