Since the re-election of President Obama succession petitions have been proliferating across the country, with Texas leading the way.

The latest count has nearly 700,000 digital signatures signed nationwide in many states.  Texas leads the count by a wide margin with nearly 70,000 digital signatures.

But don't look for Gov. Perry to get behind the effort.  His press secretary released a statement yesterday saying 'Gov Perry believes in the greatness of our Union and nothing should be done to change it...but he also shares the frustrations many Americans have with our federal government'.

The threshold for eliciting a response from the White House is 25,000 signatures in 30 days.  The Texas secession appeal surpassed the requirements for official administration comment fairly quickly.  As yet no response has been given.
