Texas Tech has played well enough in its second straight season to host a Regional in Lubbock, Texas. The 43-win, Big 12 Champion, national 5-seed Red Raiders will welcome Arizona, Delaware and Sam Houston State on Friday, June 2nd.

The Red Raiders will open with Delaware at 2 p.m. on Friday with Arizona and Sam Houston State following. On Saturday, the winners of the first two games will play while the losers play. The losers of those two will then play the winner of the winner's bracket. Make sense? Here's a visual representation for the visual learners out there.

Here's an introduction to all four teams in the Lubbock Regional.

The Blue Hens of Delaware

The opening opponent for the Red Raiders went 34-21 on the season with a 123 RPI ranking and a 214 strength of schedule. The Blue Hens won the Colonial Tournament to make the NCAA tournament as an automatic bid.

Their top pitcher, Ron Marinaccio, went 4-2 in seven starts and 21 appearances with a 1.85 ERA and held teams to a .195 batting average. In his 21 appearances and 50-plus innings, he only surrendered 12 earned runs.

Their top batters are Jeremy Ake, Doug Trimble and Nick Patten.

The Sam Houston State Bearkats

The Bearkats hold a 40-20 record winning their Southland Conference Tournament for an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. SHS is ranked 54 in RPI and has the 123rd toughest schedule in the nation.

The Bearkats are led by Heath Donica on the bump. Donica is 9-1 in 14 starts on the season with a 1.69 ERA and 100 strikeouts. Donica pitched two complete games in 2017 and ate up 101 innings. One of those complete games was also a shutout.

At the plate the Bearkats are led by Blake Chisolm, Bryce Johnson and Robie Rojas.

The Arizona Wildcats

The Wildcats are a familiar foe for the Red Raiders. The two teams met each other on March 7th when Arizona dropped a 13-1 game to Texas Tech. Overall, the Wildcats are 37-19 on the season with a RPI of 23, a 47 strength of schedule and are ranked 15th on d1baseball.com.

The Arizona Wildcats are led by Cameron Ming on the mound, who is 7-2 in 20 appearances. Seven of those 20 appearances were starts. Ming has a 2.70 ERA and held opponents to a .253 batting average.

The Wildcats' bats are led by JJ Matijevic and Alfonso Rivas III, both of whom are in the top 3 of the Pac 12 in batting average.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders

The 3rd ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders are 43-15 this season with a RPI of 5 and the 32nd toughest schedule in the nation. The regular season Big 12 season champion Red Raiders earned a number 5 seed in the NCAA tournament after losing two out of three games in the Big 12 Tournament.

Texas Tech is led by lefty Big 12 pitcher of the year Steven Gingery on the mound. Gingery boasts a 9-1 record in 14 starts with a 1.69 ERA. He held opposing batters to a batting average of .191 and had 99 strikeouts in 85 innings.

The Texas Tech lineup is incredibly deep with five bats hitting over .300 with at least 150 at bats. Orlando Garcia just misses the cut at .298 with a slugging percentage of 5.38. Tanner Gardner is hitting .297. Big 12 Player of the Year Hunter Hargrove is .342 with a .424 on base percentage.
