PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Fire has destroyed a five-story apartment building under construction in a residential area in northeast Portland.

KATU reports (http://bit.ly/18d7HWs) the fire early Thursday spread to some neighboring homes and forced some residents to evacuate. The extent of the damage to those homes was unclear.

No injuries have been reported.

The fire broke out around 4 a.m. at Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Northeast Monroe Street.

Portland Fire and Rescue says police helped evacuate residents.
