We've been hearing about it for years and now the downtown revitalization project is facing further delays.

The hotel, parking garage, and baseball complex to be placed along Buchanan have yet to break ground.  Plans are still moving forward to begin construction although you haven't been able to see any progress yet.

There's been around $75 million investment in the downtown project.  Construction was scheduled to begin late this year.

Downtown Amarillo Inc. Executive Director Melissa Dailey has said the construction date will most likely be moved back.  Part of the problem is Coca-Cola has a facility on land the city wants for the project.

Discussions are ongoing with Coca-Cola with an eye towards helping them build a new facility out near Ben R. Keith.

And expansion of the Civic Center is also being considered as part of the project.
