Fatal Hit And Run In Amarillo

This morning officers discovered a hit-and-run victim near the I-40 service road and Alice Street.

Around 4:40am this morning a vehicle struck a pedestrian and fled the area and did not stop to render aid.  Officers who arrived on the scene found a 28-year-old woman who had just been hit by a vehicle.

The victim was taken to the hospital where she later died from her injuries.  The victim was identified a 28-year-old Jana Rae Pitman of Nederland, Texas.  She was in Amarillo visiting a friend that lives in the area.
