FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — A former professional marriage counselor in North Texas faces up to 20 years in prison after being convicted of sexual assault of a male client.

Testimony continues Wednesday in Fort Worth in the penalty phase for 47-year-old Sheila Loven, who had a practice in Euless. A jury in Fort Worth on Tuesday convicted Loven of sexual assault of the man during 2009.

Prosecutors say Loven held joint and individual counseling sessions with an Arlington husband and wife while trying to seduce him. Loven also abused her position as a counselor when she sent both clients degrading and sexual text messages.

The couple also complained to state regulators about Loven. Records show she gave up her counselor's license in 2010.

The couple later divorced.
