Erwin Pawn Trade-A-Thon Is Ready For Some Football

Being on the cusp of football season didn't stand in the way of another Erwin Pawn Trade-A-Thon over the weekend.

It's the show that invites you to call in and sale the items you have that you no longer need but still have value.  Of course it's also the show that invites you to sit back and listen if you've nothing to sale.  We do it every Saturday from 9am-Noon.  We hope to entertain you next Saturday.

THE BIG QUESTION

We ask all our callers a poll question before they give their listing.  It's a way to tie the calls together and to get to know our participants a little better before they try to sell you something.

The weather hasn't gotten cold and the leaves have not turned yet but football is in the air.  The Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans both began their preseasons over the weekend.  High school and college football get underway in less that two weeks.  We wanted to know if you were ready.

RULE #6

Along with the regular rules of the program, which are recited at the beginning of each hour, I always bring you a special Rule #6.  It is sometimes inspired by something that happened to me over the last week.

This week I had all the ridiculous hickeys athletes are sporting at the Summer Olympics in Rio.  It looks like some of them have been making out with a Yeti.

It's all due to "cupping", the practice of using cups to suck the skin to help "facilitate healing", "open the pathways", and to "flush toxins".  It's hailed as an "ancient Chinese secret".

Anytime a medical practice promises those things I always smell a rat.  Cupping has about as much legitimacy as magnetic bracelets, copper braces, and titanium necklaces.  I believe all of these are snake oil.  If you hold these practices with legitimacy I'm afraid we'll be unable to be friends.

Rule #6: The best ancient Chinese secret is Calgon.
