The petition circulating around proposing to put Amarillo's hand held device while driving ban on the ballot is in need of some more signatures by February 1st.

The signs are up, police are writing warnings and the ban is in force.  That hasn't stopped some from giving up the fight.  For the petition to push the issue to a vote the petitioners need another 3.920 signatures before the end of the month.

If they don't get the signatures the effort is not completely dead.  Organizers would have to resign current signers and get the required total number up before the November election.
