Naming The new Grand St. Bridge is a hot topic for Potter County and for the City of Amarillo.

Longtime Potter County Commissioner Manny Perez was instrumental in getting the bridge built.  A bridge that provides welcome relief to area residents tired of waiting on endless freight trains. Perez lobbied Potter County for years to spend the $500,000 needed for the project.

The Potter County Commissioners on Monday approved a resolution,  3-2 of naming the bridge after Perez.  Before the vote members of the community were allowed to comment on the issues.

Since the bridge is on city property the decision is not binding or set in stone.  Amarilly City Commissioners have the final say in the matter and the issue will now head to city hall.
