Dumas Man Ordered To Pay Back Thousands Stolen From Funeral Home Customers

An area man has been found guilty of bilking customers of Morrision Funeral Directors in Dumas.

Micheal Lee Thomas was arrested and charged with tow felonies, one for selling fake property and the other for theft.  He sold head stones and plots of land to people who never got what they purchased.

Officials say Thomas was depositing checks from customers into his own account.  Court documents reveal at least 21 people were victims in the scam.

Thomas was sentenced to 15 years probation and ordered to pay back more than $18,000 to customers and $9,000 to Morrison Funeral Directors.

Thomas no longer works for the company.
