DPS Seizes Over $150,000 Worth Of Marijuana

A traffic stop on I-40 yesterday ended in all too familiar fashion.

Just before lunch on Monday a DPS trooper pulled over a 2007 Toyota Avalon for a traffic violation.

During the stop the trooper decided to search the vehicle.  Inside the trunk of the vehicle the trooper discovered several vacuum sealed packages of marijuana. The total weight of the contraband was over 25 pounds.

The driver, 59-year-old Tadeusz Mierzwa of Decatur, Georgia was taken into custody.  He was booked into the Carson County jail on felony possession charges.

The marijuana was allegedly being transported from Sacramento, California to Decatur, Georgia.
