DPS Seize Over $200,000 In Stolen Jewelry
The DPS got more than it bargained for when they stopped a Chevy Malibu on Saturday.
Saturday afternoon the Texas Department of Public Safety troopers pulled over a Chevy Malibu near Shamrock. An open-air K-9 search of the vehicle lead to a search. Inside the trunk side panels troopers found $216,850 worth of stolen jewelry.
The jewelry still had tags with bar codes that revealed the merchandise had been stolen from a Macy's in Alabama. The driver of the vehicle was identified as 40-year-old Michael Bourgeois from Los Angeles.
Bourgeois was arrested for possession of stolen property and booked into the Wheeler County Jail.
